Freshwater Bass fish on beautiful Lake Gatún (Atlantic side of the Panama Canal) just twenty miles away from the cruise ship city of Colón. We are the only guide service on the entire lake that specializes in catching the ferocious peacock bass on artificial lures. Catches of one hundred plus fish a day are common on topwater plugs. However, if the fishing warrants live bait, plenty of lively ‘sardinas’ are kept on board. Besides peacock bass, one might also catch tarpon, snook, oscar, and even amber jack traveling through the Panama Canal.

Each fisherman is equipped with Shimano Curado and Stradic reels fitted with All-Star rods. Anglers will fish with professional guide Mitch Jones aboard a 18½ foot Cobia that was custom built for Lake Gatun.
The Lodge
After a hard day of fishing each guest will be glad to return to the 3,000 sq-foot air-conditioned lodge. The lodge has three large bedrooms each with its own bathroom. Two of the bathrooms include large jacuzzi tubs that are perfect for relaxing after a long day on the lake..
Most guests grab their favorite cocktail and spend the evenings on the wrap around porch trading fishing stories while the sun sets on Lake Gatún and the tropical paradise that surrounds the lodge. In the meantime, our incredible chef prepares dinner whether it be filet mignon, prawns, lobster, or the catch of the day. However you decide to spend your evening, our staff will make sure that you never have to lift a finger.
Saltwater Fishing
Deep-sea fishing off the coast of Panama is considered some of the finest fishing in the world. Touted by most to be the sailfish capitol of the world, you can also expect to catch dorado, tuna, wahoo, amber jack, grouper, snapper, and marlin. Close contact is kept with each experienced captain, so that we know exactly where the fish are biting the best. With this approach, clients are always guaranteed the most extreme saltwater action Panama has to offer.
When booking larger trips we do have access to other boats and experienced guides that team up with our own guide to accommodate large groups. The guides take out two or three fisherman in each boat. Upon request the groups have small tournaments in which the winner receives a free mount of their trophy.
Panama Pursuit has many connections with different size boats on both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans in order to better suit different sized groups, or accommodate special requests.
